Saturday 9th April is almost upon us and Recreation the Ruby Country Way is shaping up to be an interesting and freeĀ event.
Running from 10am to 4.30pm at Cookworthy Forest Centre there will a wide range of recreation and outdoor activites being showcased with opportunities to have a go at some others. The day is an opportunity for Ruby Country Partnership and Ride the Ruby Country to review the past year and highlight what will be happening throughout 2011. Many events are planned and a new package of incentives for Ruby Business Network members will also be available to see and comment upon. The Friends of Ruby Country will also be launched. There will be opportunities to learn more about Ride the Ruby Country and its progress over the last 6 months. Now could be the opportunity to begin working with the project to make the most of the emerging opportunities.
Many other organisations and businesses will also be attending, including Devon County Council Rights of Way, West Devon Borough Council, Torridge District Council, SW Lakes Trust, Bude Canal Partnership Trust, Brandis Corner Wildlife Group, RSPB, South West Riders, British Horse Society, British Carriage Driving Society Devon, Sustrans, Forestry Commission and Taw and Torridge Voluntary Services, amongst others.

Holsworthy Walk and Talk will be conducting guided walks around Cookworthy Forest.
Devon Wildlife Trust will be exhibiting the machinery used to manage the rare culm grasslands of Devon.
There will be opportunities to try archery courtesy of Arms of Old and air rifle shooting courtesy of Shebbear Shooters.
Colesmill Stables will be providing pony rides.
You will be able to have a taster of holistic therapies from Hollingworth Touch.
There will also be falconry displays provided by West Country Falconry.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day courtesy of Evergreen Farm.
Some of the Ruby Country accommodation providers will also be in attendance, highlighting what they do and how demonstrating the benefits of working in partnership.
