A very warm welcome to the website of Coope Farm.
We are a family run small holding of 25 cares near Halwill Junction. Much of the land is species rich culm grassland that we are managing with the help of Devon Wildlife Trust.
New for August 2011
We have recently finished converting a shepherds hut and are pleased to offer it out as holiday accommodation.
Shepherds hut holidays are a form of ‘glamping’ (glamorous camping). One step up from camping; cheaper than renting a cottage. Our wagon is located in one of our twelve ancient fields. Accommodation offers a high double bed with linen included, children’s beds could be made up under the bunk and additional tents can be pitched by arrangement. Washing facilities are a flushing toilet and cold water sink a field away from the wagon. So we would be more attractive to demi-glampers! We accept well behaved dogs. The wagon is fitted with a wood burning stove (seasoned wood can be purchased or collected from the hedgerows for free!). Cooking can be carried out inside on a twin hob camping gas stove with grill (gas provided) or outside over an open fire pit with tripod and dutch oven. Cutlery, crockery and basic cooking utensils are all provided. Free range eggs, out door reared, rare breed sausages and bacon available to buy on site.
Bargain prices for our first season: £40 per night (2 night minimum stay); £250 per week.
You are also welcome to come and camp at Coope. We have fairly basic amenities but it’s very pretty. £10 per night for a caravan or mobile home, £2.50 per adult per night for campers.
We also offer opportunities for adults with learning difficulties to participate in rural activities on the farm, caring for animals and basic horticulture. We currently have 3 young horses, a small flock of sheep, free range chickens, ducks, geese, pigs and a dog! And hopefully a small herd of Ruby Red Devon cattle by the end of the year too.
